The Galleries unveils donation board
The Galleries has installed a donation board to support the lifesaving missions of the Children’s Air Ambulance (TCAA) as it celebrates 10 years of vital service.
In late February, a donation board was installed in The Galleries to raise awareness of the national children’s charity, while allowing the local community to tap and automatically donate five pounds to support the lifesaving inter-hospital transfer service. “Supporting the community is a key focus for The Galleries and having hosted the Children’s Air Ambulance Fashion Show last year, we have been looking at ways we could help to promote the charity on an ongoing basis,” said David Wait, Centre Manager at The Galleries. “We identified our car park lobbies as an ideal location, with thousands of people walking through them each day, to help drive awareness of this incredible charity and their vital missions, helping to save the lives of critically ill babies and children,” he added.
The Children’s Air Ambulance provides the only intensive care helicopters in the country dedicated to transferring critically ill babies and children, at a high and safe speed, from local hospitals to specialist paediatric and neonatal treatment centres.
Funding from initiatives such as this provides a vital source of income for this lifesaving children’s charity as it receives no government or National Lottery funding. It ensures the Children’s Air Ambulance can continue to provide its dedicated service across the UK, enhancing patient care for critically ill babies and children.
Community Fundraising Executive for the charity, Fiona Franklin said, “I am extremely grateful to David Wait and the Galleries Shopping Centre in Bristol for all the support they have given the Children’s Air Ambulance over the past six months.”
“This awareness board is the first of its kind for the charity and is an amazing achievement for us. It will help to raise awareness within Bristol of the lifesaving missions undertaken by the Children’s Air Ambulance and it will help the charity to continue making pioneering developments,” she added.
The charity is celebrating its 10th anniversary of providing lifesaving high-speed transfers for critically ill babies and children in 2023. To help the charity mark this momentous milestone and support it so its lifesaving missions can continue, join them at the charity’s official Open Day at Bath Racecourse on 20 May 2023. Your support will help to keep hope alive for patients and their families.
